Stress is considered as any physical or emotional factors that cause bodily or mental unrest. Physical factors include trauma, infections, toxins, illnesses and injuries of any sort. Emotional causes are numerous and varied.
Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a lack of clarity, increased anxiety and worry about the future. If accumulated, stress can be the primary cause of many health issues including heart disease, ulcer, high blood pressure and psychological illnesses, leading to depression, low productivity and a feeling of loneliness. While it’s impossible to completely eliminate stress (and it would not be advisable to do so), we can instead learn to manage stress so we can maintain a better control over our physical and mental health.
